Dr Gaurav Mishra, Director SPRERI, as a guest honor for the function has delivered a expert talk on future newewable technologies. Celebration was also followed by Project Exhibition for the Benefits of students.

10 April 2018    NPTEL Local Chapter

The pattern for the NPTEL April 28/29, 2018 exam is updated. Out of 226 courses in total for April 28/29 exam, Online exam will be conducted for 217 courses and offline exam will be conducted for 9 courses. Online exam : Candidates will have to appear at the allotted exam centre, produce the Hall ticket and Government Identification Card for verification, and take the exam in person. The questions will be on the computer and the answers will have to be entered on the computer. Type of questions may include multiple choice questions, fill in the blanks, short answer type answers, essay type answers, etc. Offline exam : Candidates will have to appear at the allotted exam centre, produce the Hall ticket and Government Identification Card for verification, and take the exam in person. The question paper will be available on the computer. Answer sheets will be given to the candidate. He/she will have to write the answers on sheets of paper, tie them and submit the same to the invigilator. Type of questions may include multiple choice questions, fill in the blanks, short answer type answers, essay type answers, etc.

Department of Chemical Engineering and IIChE students Chapter celebrated World Water Day on the 22nd March, 2018. The theme of this year was ‘Nature for Water”. An informative poster exhibition on different aspects of water conservation, treatment and harvesting was organized at the foyer to create a general awareness among all the students and staff members. A team from Civil Engineering department demonstrated different types of pipe fittings and valves to reduce the water leakage. They also shared their experience on a survey they had conducted to assess water leakage from different taps in the campus. A documentary movie show was arranged in the seminar hall, where a film titled ‘Before the Flood’ on climate change was screened. One more documentary on the scarcity of water was screened. On this occasion Dr. Himanshu Soni, Principal GCET, addressed the gathering and he cited examples of from ancient religious scripts where water was considered as an essential and sacred commodity to preserve and conserve. Dr. Kaushik Nath Head Chemical Engineering briefly introduced the theme.

Social Activity Committee is organizing a seminar on Mudra & Meditation on 24/03/2018, Saturday at 8.30 am.; in garden (opposite to Auditorium). All faculties, staff and technicians can ttend programme. There is no registration fees. Dr. Yogesh Bhatia, will be conducting the programme, who is expert in Reiki, Vastu, Tarot card, and Signature Analysis.

The workshop will be carried out to introduce about Arduino board and programming following by different hands-on session based on application design. These sessions contains the servomechanism approaches based on P, I, D and PID control, which are significant in various application based projects including robotics and industrial automation.

Mr. Divye Shah (Final year student, IT Department) and his team received the Technology of the year award by GUSEC (Gujarat University Start-up and Entrepreneurship Council) on 11th March, 2018 at the launching event of Start-up and Innovation Policy. The award was presented by Shri. Suresh Prabhu, Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation Ministry, Govt. of India and Shri. Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Higher Education Minister, Govt. of Gujarat.

Viraj Mistry, a Final Year Mechanical Engineering student of GCET was awarded with the prestigious ‘Gaurav Puraskar’ by Charutar Vidyamandal in presence of Chairman of Charutar Vidyamandal Er. Shri Bhikhubhai Patel on Vallabh Vidyanagar Day (3rd March,2018) for his achievements at West Zone and National level Youth Festivals in the event of Western Instrumental. At both levels he secured 2nd position.

Viraj Mistry, a Final Year Mechanical Engineering student of GCET represented GTU and secured 2nd position in the event of ‘Western Instrumental (Solo)’ at Inter University National Youth Festival organized by Ranchi University, Ranchi, Jharkhand in collaboration with Association of Indian Universities, Ministry of Human Resources (Youth affairs), New Delhi during 16th to 20th February, 2018.

GCET has lifted championship trophy in the recently concluded ‘Amul Volcano’18’, an intercollegiate cultural festival consisting of 26 events. The event was organized by Rotary Club, Anand in Town Hall from 21st to 25th Janurary, 2018. Out of 26 events GCET won 1st prize in 13, 2nd prize in 3 and 3rd prize in 3 events. Scoring 48 points GCET won the title with a huge margin amongst 26 colleges.

He mesmerized the audience with his innovative guitar playing technique. This is a very huge achievement of Viraj Mistry. With this Viraj is now qualified to participate in the All India (National) Inter University Youth Festival to be held at Ranchi, Jharkhand in the month of February, 2018. Along with Viraj who also played a major role in the event of Folk Orchestra, three other students from GCET were a part of GTU team. They were Tanay Tewar in One Act Play, Skit and Mime; Aditi Nanda in One Act Play and Folk Orchestra and Harsh Prajapati in Western Group Song. Dr. Yogesh Chauhan was the team manager of the GTU team for the West Zone Inter University Youth Festival.

GCET has lifted runners up trophy in the GTU V.V.Nagar zone Softball boys tournament. This tournament was organized by GCET during 9th & 10th January, 2018. Out of 8 teams from V.V.Nagar zone, GCET has lifted Runners up trophy in the tournament. Mr. Akshat Pathak, Jenus Mehta, Deep Bhuva, Moheen Patel, Avinash Yadav, Darsh Patel, Prit Dadhania, Shivam Patel, Parth Prajapati, Rutvik dabhi, Abhisek Thakkar, Harsh Shah were the participants of the GCET Softball team. Mr. Jenus Mehta, a Civil Engineering & Mr. Deep Bhuva, a Computer Engineering students participated in All India Inter- University Softball boys (National) tournament held at MDU, Rohtak, Haryana during 25th to 28th February, 2018 and Dr. Vijay Gurjar was coach of the team.

This tournament was organized by SIGMA Institute of Engineering and Technology , Vadodara during 2nd & 3rd December, 2017. Out of 14 teams from V.V.Nagar zone, GCET has lifted championship trophy in the tournament. Mr.Jignesh Parmar, Ayush Devani, Avinash Yadav, Piyush Kabra, Kevin Das, Parth Tandel, Chiragkumar Patel, Sumit Ghodke, sharadkumar Pandey, Nihar Patel, Gunjan Bayani, Dhruvin Purohit, Hardik Dudhrejia, Darshak Padsala, Barbbingtons, Prayag Patolia were the participants of the GCET Football team and Dr. Vijay Gurjar was coach of the team.

IEEE GCET SB maintained a successful membership count of 169 members in 2016. IEEE Gujarat Section recognised the efforts and the SB was awarded with the Best Membership Growth 2016 Award for the second consecutive time

Congratulations to all of our students who have successfully completed September/October 2017 NPTEL Online Certification Examination. Total 52 students appeared in the examination for various NPTEL courses. Three students secured score in top 5% of the certified candidates and 29 students have received Elite certificate.

This tournament was organized by ITM, Vadodara college of Engineering & Technology during 14th to 15th October, 2017. Out of 10 teams from all over the Gujarat, GCET has lifted Runners up trophy in the tournament. Mr.Vedant Thakur, Lalit Sharma, Jay Goyani, Mandar Kesarkar, Rudra Patel, Shivam Zala, Vivek Chattbar, Shivam Kushwaha, Deep Sardhara, Parth Tandel, Devansh, Ashutosh were the participants of the GCET Basketball team. Mr. Mandar Kesarkar, a Mechanica Engineering student participated in West- Zone Inter- University Basketball boys (National) tournament held at M L Sukhadia University, Udaipur, Rajasthan during 04th to 08th December, 2017 and Dr. Vijay Gurjar was coach of the team.

The IEEE Region 10 Sectional Leadership Summit was successfully hosted by IEEE GCET SB in August 2017. The Summit was a first of its kind of event in Gujarat. The Leadership Summit aimed to convene student members of the IEEE to enable them to discuss the growth and development of IEEE student activities in societies, not only within the Section, but also in Region 10 as a whole

Congratulations to all of our students who have successfully completed March/April 2017 NPTEL Online Certification Examination. Total 38 students appeared in the examination for various NPTEL courses. One student secured score in top 1% of the certified candidates and two students secured score in top 5% of the certified candidates. One student received Elite + Gold Certificate and 19 students received Elite certificate.
