Since its inception in 1996-97, G H Patel College of Engineering & Technology has been at the forefront of engineering education. GCET began its journey in the academic year 1996-97 by introducing Chemical Engineering and Information Technology, which were among the first to be started anywhere in India. Expanding its academic horizon, Mechanical Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering were added in 1997-98. In 1998-99, GCET became one of the first institutions in India to offer Mechatronics Engineering, marking a significant milestone in engineering education.
The college continued to grow with the addition of Computer Engineering in 1999-2000 and Electrical Engineering in 2001-02. The Civil Engineering program was established in 2014-15, further strengthening GCET’s academic foundation. To broaden the scope of technology, Computer Science & Design and Computer Science & Engineering (IoT) were launched in 2021-22, reflecting GCET’s commitment to evolve with emerging trends.
Most recently, in 2024-25, GCET introduced Information & Communication Technology, further strengthening its legacy of innovation and excellence in interdisciplinary engineering education.
