UNIVERSAL CENTRIFUGAL CASTING MACHINE
Universal Centrifugal Casting Machine enables users to have different axis of rotation of mould in a single machine. Shaft-2 (Horizontal Shaft) (4) is used to hold the entire Mould Housing 1, 2 and 3 (3) and Electric Motor (9) structure and supports it. Shaft-1 (Vertical Shaft) (1) can swing between the angles of 0° to 90°. Bearing Housing (2) is used to hold the bearings and allow Shaft-1 (Vertical Shaft) (1) to rotate freely. (As shown in figure-9), Bearing housing (2) is the junction of Shaft-1 (Vertical Shaft) (1) and Shaft 2 (Horizontal Shaft) (4). This is a technique for measuring oil film thickness between piston ring and liner in an un-fired I C engine. The technique makes use of strain gauge as the sensing element. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Contact of piston ring and liner is one of the major areas where frictional losses take place in the engine. The mathematical models to predict Oil film thickness, enlightened the path of research to reduce friction between piston ring and liner. However, the mathematical models need to be validated with experimental results.
