The Department of Chemical Engineering, G H Patel College of Engineering & Technology Vallabh Vidyangar organized Two-day Students’ Technical Meet on Interdisciplinary Approach Towards Advancements in the fields of Production, Engineering, Health & Safety and Security during 19-20 January 2018. The two day programme was inaugurated by Dr.S G Patel Sir, Honorary secretary Charutar Vidya Mandal, Mr. Ashwin Parikh, Managing Director of the International Business Development Consultancy and a senior Chemical Engineer, Dr. M S Rao, Professor & Head, Chemical Engineering, D D University, Nadiad. The two-day symposium was aimed to create a platform for knowledge sharing for all stakeholders in the area of Production, Engineering, Health & Safety and Security. It covered a rich variety of subjects, technologies and practices, thereby giving a comprehensive overview on the subject. The event featured a mix of eminent speakers from research institutes, academia and the private sector, providing examples and case studies of changed and changing paradigms that will provide the fuel for attendees looking for possibilities. In his inaugural speech Mr.Ashwin Parikh emphasized on the advancement of production and engineering mainly on the event theme. Dr. S G Patel in his presidential remarks highlighted the importance of the topic and its social relevance; He congratulated the participants and the organizers. Dr. Himanshu Soni Principal GCET, Dr. Kaushik Nath, Head of Chemical Engineering and the Organizing Coordinators Mr.Vinay B Patel and also IIChe Chapter GCET Students’ Coordinator Mr. Vivek Tomar were also present. There were more than 115 delegates and participants from various academic institutes from Gujarat, R & D organization and industries like, Parul Institute of Technology, Baroda, Sal Institute of Technology, Ahmedabad and so on. About 20 oral papers and 23 posters were presented in the technical sessions and also various other technical events like Quizerria, Trouble shoot, Extreme Debate were taken place. Various professional societies like IIChE, IE (I) were the partner of the event. The event was highly recognized all over Gujarat and beyond and the organizing team received very good feedback from the participants.
