Industrial Visit at Vikram Sarabhai Space Exhibition (VSSE), Ahmedabad.

An Industrial Visit was organised by G.H. Patel College of Engineering and Technology for the students of 1st year Information Technology in order to enhance their practical stimulation and to let them have an overview of the technological advancements in the field of space research and the importance of an IT engineer in it, at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Exhibition (VSSE), Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) at Ahmedabad.

As soon as all the necessary procedures required at ISRO before the trip were done, we were informed about the date and time of the visit, which was 9th May, 2017. The trip started at 8 am. By 10:30, we were at the entry gate of VSSE, ISRO. We made the pair of two, signed an attendance sheet, and were ushered into the main building. To what seemed to be like an exhibition of models of space crafts and satellites and their individual components. We were then taken to a small theatre type auditorium, where Dr. J.P. Joshi, a pioneer in electronic communication, now retired and researching at ISRO, had a session with us. There we were explained and informed about the challenges faced by the scientist in making all the components work in the extremes of the temperature. We were told about the history of space research in India and ISRO`s role in it. The session ended with a short documentary on Marsspace probe, The "Mangalyaan". Then wewent to the exhibition, where we saw near to real and same models of different satellites, sounding rockets and satellite launch vehicles. We walked around the buildings, through the models, info graphics, etc. There were volunteers standing beside the models who explained the working of them in real satellites. They were very co-operative and gave us the perfect and accurate answers to the questions we asked. Ground floor had mainly the models of different space crafts, and there we were explained by a volunteer all about the internal components of a launch vehicle. Then we were taken to the 1st floor. It was mainly the exhibition of real size and some working models of space craft's components. We were even shown the live readings from a component that was connected to satellite. Then we wereexplained how and what is the importance of different components of a spacesuit, how they worked etc. There were some competitive quizzes, which were a lot of fun. After that, we were asked to meet outside the main building. Again we signed in the attendance sheet, had lunch and headed back to our college. By 4.30 pm, we reached the college and with that, the best and the most memorable industrial visit came to an end.
