Workshop on Industrial Automation

       

A half-day workshop was organized by International Society of Automation (ISA) Chapter, GCET and Department of EC and Electrical, on Industrial Automation, on September 20, 2017.

The aim of organizing this workshop was to familiarize the third and final year students of EC and Electrical engineering with current trends in industries with respect to automation. Today almost all manufacturing units are aggressively embracing automation to improve productivity, quality and reduce manufacturing cost at the shop floors. Industrial automation involves various systems and sub-components such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Distributed Control System (DCS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Systems (SCADA), Instrumentation, Drives, Electrical and Control panels. Industrial automation is the fastest growing industry and provides long-term career for budding engineers.

The workshop conducted and delivered by Mr. Tushar Shedge and his team from Prolific Systems & Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Baroda. Total 85 students from third and final year EC, Electrical and Mechatronics were take active participation and learn basic concepts about the various systems used in automation as well as latest happening in the industrial automation segment, Field Instruments, Controllers, PLCs and SCADA software. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Hitesh Shah, Professor, EC Dept., and supported by ISA, GCET convener Dr. Jatin Patel, EE, Dept., GCET.
