To meet the needs of industries in Gujarat and beyond, to contribute to the growth of industries through modern Information Technology, and to provide talented youngsters of Gujarat with engineering education of a high standard, Charutar Vidya Mandal (CVM) decided in 1995 to set up a private engineering college as per the norms of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the policy of the State Government. Finally in 1996, CVM started GCET with two engineering disciplines. GCET started functioning in academic year 1996-1997 by offering two four-year Bachelor of Engineering Degree programmes namely Chemical Engineering and Information Technology. Currently institute is running with seven disciplines at graduate level and one at post graduate level.
