J2ME and Tech-hacking workshops.

Technologix
Technologix had events pertaining to Information Technology and Computer Science disciplines of engineering. Four competitions and a workshop were held under it.Day one started with Divide N C (modular C Programming) was followed by Vision (innovative idea presentation), the participants had to present their ideas before the judges and they were judged based upon their innovativeness and practicality. immediatus presentare(on the spot presentation) was held next Day 2 had two parallel events one was WebSketch (a web designing competition) in which student were given a task of designing a website for mobile shop in 6 hours The other was AniMajik a one day workshop on flash animation which was delivered by resource persons from image multimedia.
Electrostriffe
Electrostriffe had events pertaining to Electronics and Communication discipline. Three competitions and one workshop on ROBOT were held during the two days. Poster Vortsellung was held in which the participants were given internet, printer and stationary to make & present posters on topics related to EC.competition Tangled in which students had to prepare electronic circuits as per the definition provided. Autobots a two day workshop on autonomous robots, students in group of 3 were taught to program 8051 IC to make line follower and wall follower.
Illume
Illume had events related to electrical discipline. competitions such as electrical junkyard ,Sparkioworld were held in it.A paper presentation competition called Electrigraphy was held in the evening. Day two had a workshop on PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) which had the theory and practical sessions teaching students about the power of PLC.
Mechaquo
Mechaquo had events consisting four robotics competitions and a paper presentation competition. Day one started with event called Rope Way in which the robot has to travel on two ropes 20 cm apart, the winning robot covered 15 meter in 10.75 sec! . In the evening robo race was held in the flood lights with speaker systems giving a festive feeling the winners covered 32 feet in 35 sec. Next day and unique event Aqua-de-Vida i.e. boat race was held. Day 2 evening saw another exciting event Tough Enough !! I.e. tug of war between the robots, the robots had to prove their muscle power by applying maximum pull on the opponent.
Three seminars were held in the two days which were complementary for the participants i.e. no entry fee were taken on ANN, Chandraayan I and Substation Earthing.

S-TAC is an IEEE recognized event which aims at raising awareness among engineering students about new technologies and their applications in various fields. It was the first time any student branch has organized S-TAC in the Gujarat section. The inauguration was commenced by Dr. S.V. Vaishnav, Hon. Joint Secretary, Charutar Vidya Mandal(CVM).
Dr. Angom Singh, Scientist, Theoretical Physics Division, PRL delivered the first talk of the conference-“Grid-The future of high performance computing”. Mr. Jigar Raval, Engineer, Computer Center, PRL delivered the secondtalk of the conference on- “Linux & Security concerns”. Mr. Prakash Sompura, Managing Director, Ritvi InfoTech Ltd delivering the third and final talk on “Open Source Revolution and its implications”. At the end of the day, for the students to let off steam, we held a small IT businesses related trivia quiz. The event saw participation from students of in and around Vallabh Vidyanagar, Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Rajkot. STAC 09 also saw the release of first edition of our in-house e-magazine “Techronicle”.

This time GCET IEEE Student Branch joined hands with ‘Prarambh’ –the GCET Project Club, the co- ordinators of the events were Mr.Nilesh Modi and Mr. Saurin Sheth. Various work-shops and the competitions were held under Technologix ,Mechaquo and Electrostriff .Some of the best speakers from gujarat enthralled students with their expert talks. The support from CVM, college, and faculty members guided and encouraged the volunteers throughout the event. The whole event was a great success withstudents of various disciplines from all over the Gujarat participating in huge numbers.

Previous year, the colloquium consisted of three parallel events named CYNOSURE (Electronics and Communication), Ad Infinitum (Computer Engineering) and CULMINATION (Electrical Engineering). All events comprised of a (2+2) expert cum demo lectures from the Who’s Who of the respective fields. This time GCET IEEE has added 4 more events which include iDEAS( A Paper Presentation Competition), Discretus de Cryptogramme(A Digital Debugging Competition), Concours d’intelligentia (A technical cum non-technical Quiz) and GURU( A management Case Study).

On 28th Februaury 2006, GCET IEEE Student Branch got its approval from IEEE Headquarters, New York, USA. In order to inaugurate the branch, GCET is organizing a one day technical event, named SCINTILLATIONS 06 The event consists of three parallel events named CYNOSURE(EC), Ad Infinitum (CP/IT) and CULMINATION(EE). All events comprise of a (2+2) expert lectures.
Date: 8 April 2007.
The event consists of Crux of Elan, Strategem for Tyro, Innuendos for Success and The Rostrum. All these events will be conducted by the Who’s Who in the respective fields.
