Information Technology Department of G H Patel College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), a Charutar Vidya Mandal Institute, Vallabh Vidyanagar, organized a One day Seminar on “Introduction to Internet of Things (IoT)”, which was coordinated by Prof. Bhargesh Patel on 21st February, 2018 from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM at GCET Seminar Hall. The event was conducted by Mr. Dip N Modi, Nilmay Info system, Anand. The event was specially organized for the interested students of Third year of Information Technology Department. Total 32 students participated in the Seminar.

Main focus of the Seminar was awareness about various technology used for Internet of Things. Mr. Dip was brief about, what IoT is and what the benefits of IoT in real time environment are. In seminar students got familiar with various development board of IoT like Raspberry Pi, Arduino etc. students were also familiar about various operating system available for various boards with the usage of each OS with specific board. He also discuss about Arduino’s supporting libraries developed by open source users across the world. Learning this platform might help students in rapid prototype development their project. Keeping these facts in mind content of seminar was designed.

In the seminar, students got familiar with various development boards like Arduino and Raspberry Pi and learnt the development environment for Arduino with Arduino I/O pin practical like blinking LED, serial interface. In the seminar expert shown how to make raspberry pi as media server for streaming videos online.

Overall, the event was a grand success. The efforts made by the expert was clearly reflected on the faces of the students. A wave of awareness regarding the topics covered was seen among the students.
