Civil Engineering Department of G H Patel College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), a Charutar Vidya Mandal institute, VallabhVidyanagar, organized a motivational lecture by Dr. Arun M Antani, former Head of the Civil & Structural Engineering Department, and GCET on 30th July, 2014. This was specially organized for the first batch of Civil Engineering students for the first lecture on the first day of their engineering. The session was started with floral welcome to Dr. Arun M. Antani by Dr. Himanshu Soni, Principal GCET. The program was started with a prayer by female faculty members of the department and Dr. Khadeeja Priyan, HOD, Civil Engineering Department formally introduced the speaker. The lecture was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the chief guest, the principal and the staff members. Dr. Antani shared his vast experience as an engineer in railway and as a professor in BVM. The lecture gave a wide range of knowledge and importance in the present scenario of civil engineering. The speaker started with the history of civil engineering and its development over the years. His remarkable statement " Hakuna Matata" which means "Don?t worry be happy" was highly appreciated by the students. Students had a good interaction with the speaker.
