Detecting disease spread in a Geographic location - A big data approach

        Dr Maulika S Patel, Head of the Computer Engineering department introduced the speaker and also offered a floral welcome. Dr Ratnik started with an introduction to algorithms, matrix operations and the complexity involved when the size of the matrix is very very big. Then he introduced what big data is, what are the challenges and how big data analytics can be used in predicting the disease in a geographical area. The lecture attracted an audience of around 350 students and 20 faculty members. Prof Hetal Gaudani presented a vote of thanks. The expert lecture was followed by a quiz for the interested students.
