G H Patel College of Engineering & Technology, Vallabh Vidyanagar (A constituent College of CVM University), Department of Chemical Engineering has organized a Virtual Training Session on 8th of September, 2020. The training session was coordinated by Dr. Haresh K Dave, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Chemical Engineering, GCET, V.V.Nagar. The event mainly focused on final year students, however 2nd year and pre-final year students also took part in the event in prospect to their bright future. The program focused on all the three key aspects a student has to undergo during the campus placement activity, i.e. Aptitude test, Group discussions, and Personal interviews. The event began with a talk on ‘how to face personal interviews’ by Guest speaker Mr. Vikas Singh, Senior verbal faculty, IMS, Anand, who was also the judge for the group discussion (GD) session. The talk was followed by an interactive question-answer session in which students were enlightened about certain specific questions and scenarios faced during a personal interview. After this session there was an aptitude test for 15 minutes which helped in short listing the students for the group discussion session. The top 10 students from the results of the aptitude test were then divided into two groups of five each. The final session of the program was the group discussions. This was followed by comments and insights on the topics and the ways to approach them. The event then came to an end with a vote of thanks. Around 80 students of second, third, and final year attended the program. The purpose behind the event was to enlighten the students about key aspects of recruitment and train them for excelling in the placement procedure. Overall, the event was fruitful, knowledge imparting and with a touch of guidance for the students.
