The Department of Chemical Engineering, G H Patel College of Engineering & Technology (GCET),Vallabh Vidyanagr, had organized 4th one day extramural seminar on “Workplace safety, health and Hygiene” on 20th September 2018. The programme was supported by Charutar Vidya Mandal (CVM), IIChE student Chapter GCET and ISTE GCET Staff Chapter. The seminar intended to familiarize the people associated with technical and engineering services, lab technicians, faculty members and senior students with the exposure of fundamentals of workplace safety, risk, health hazards and hygiene to enable those rendering better services.Around 100 delegates and participants including faculty members and students from academic and R & D organizations from various parts of Gujarat participated in seminar. The Seminar was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr. Rekha Kashyap, Scientist F, National Institute of Occupational Health Ahmedabad, Guest of Honor Mr. K N Krishnamurthy, Safety Consultant, National Safety Council, Gujarat Chapter and Dr. S G Patel, Honorary secretary, Charutar Vidya Mandal. Dr. Kaushik Nath, Organizing Chair and Head of Chemical Engineering Department GCET, and the organizing secretaries Dr. Tejal M Patel Prof. Prof. Suresh Panchani were also present.Based on the theme various eminent speaker from the different area having more than few decades of experience in their respective fields were invited to delivered talk in the seminar. Five invited talk and one demonstration session to use the fire extinguisher were organized during whole day.
