Department of Electrical engineering has organized a one day workshop on "Presentation using Beamer and LaTeX" by Prof Ishaq sheikh for the faculty member of GCET on Saturday, 19th March, 2016. More than 40 faculty members attendant the seminar. First session start with basic Introduction of LaTeX with its motivation , advantages and limitations as compared to Microsoft word. He also explained basics of LATEX including basic commands, document structure, running and viewing LATEX. He discuss about the detailed Structure of the Beamer document and how to structure any document with sectioning and Sub -sectioning , sub -sub sectioning .He also explained how to Insert figure, figure environment, placing of figure, resizing, table generation,mathematical Equation (such as Alignment,long equation).He also discuss about how to write complex mathematical equation with equation, equation array, align, split environment. He also explained how to use verbatim command to print the document as it is .Prof Ishaq sheikh explains how to use block vironment,definition block, theorem, example block ,lemma and proof block. The third session start with hands on practice with controlling appearance of LaTeX like numbering list, bullet point list, description list, basic text formatting (fonts,symbols, quotations, footnotes). He explained mathematical equation, figure environment,table environment, and references using bibtex.Third session assisted by Prof.Chetna shah
