Industrial visit to Brick manufacturing Unit and Jay chemical industries ltd.

Civil Engineering Department of G H Patel College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), a Charutar Vidya Mandal institute, Vallabh Vidyanager, organized an industrial visit to Brick manufacturing Unit and Jay chemical industries ltd. on April 6, 2016. Faculty members, students visited there by college bus.HMT named brick manufacturing company is located near Amiyad village in Anand district. The raw materials used there were fine sand,Soil and flyash. The materials they used for burning of bricks was coal, lignite as well as waste materials of paddy and groundnuts. The sand they used was of particular type which was suitable for a brick. They bring this sand from the bank of river kheda. We saw the place where the bricks were burnt, the chimney as well as the casting of bricks from the mixture of raw materials. First of a ll the raw materials were mixed in proper proportions, kept in front of sun for drying for two days and then sent for burning at 500 degree celsius for 24 hours and then kept for cooling for about 15 days. This process is done batch wise and each batch contains 30000 bricks. There were around 300 skilled workers in company. The capcity of After visiting a brick manufacturing company, we visited to an industry named Jay Industries Ltd. It was located at Kalamsar village in Anand district. This industry was manufacturing different colors dyes which were to be printed on clothes. It was a very large industry which was in very large area. It contained different units for different processes for a product to be manufactured. There was a unit which was under co nstruction. The footings were already constructed and the columns were raised upto plinth level. The structures were combination of R.C.C. and Steel Structure which was very much important from the concept point of view in Structural engineering. we saw designs of offices, meeting rooms for clients, conference room as well as laboratories which was important for Planning point of view. The Affluent treatment plant was also visited and it was very much knowledgeable. This visit was really fruitfull and informative for civil engineering team to know about manufacturing of bricks and a large scale industrial planning
