Celebration of World Water Day

        Department of Chemical Engineering and IIChE students Chapter celebrated World Water Day on the 22nd March, 2018. The theme of this year was ‘Nature for Water”. An informative poster exhibition on different aspects of water conservation, treatment and harvesting was organized at the foyer to create a general awareness among all the students and staff members. A team from Civil Engineering department demonstrated different types of pipe fittings and valves to reduce the water leakage. They also shared their experience on a survey they had conducted to assess water leakage from different taps in the campus. A documentary movie show was arranged in the seminar hall, where a film titled ‘Before the Flood’ on climate change was screened. One more documentary on the scarcity of water was screened. On this occasion Dr. Himanshu Soni, Principal GCET, addressed the gathering and he cited examples of from ancient religious scripts where water was considered as an essential and sacred commodity to preserve and conserve. Dr. Kaushik Nath Head Chemical Engineering briefly introduced the theme.
