A Visit to University Museum Sardar Patel University

        Civil Engineering Department of G H Patel College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), a Charutar Vidya Mandal institute, VallabhVidyanagar, organized a technical visit to Sardar Patel University Museum at Vallabh Vidyanagar on 22nd September, 2014. As many as 55 Civil Engineering students and two faculty members were present. The main aim of the visit was to understand human civilization and its role in the history of Civil Engineering. The visit was really an enlightening for our students and faculty members by knowing the details of ancient periods i.e. Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic periods. The museum has a good collection of evidences from these periods which includes Prehistoric stone tools, Indus Valley Civilization (Harappan) objects, Historic painted pottery and terracotta objects, sculptures, coins, Geological specimens of rocks and minerals and biological specimens. The presentation showing Indus Valley civilization has given an insight to various constructions such as buildings, drainage systems etc of that period. The museum has a good collection of different rocks and minerals from different parts of the Country. Students and faculty members of Civil Engineering Department, G H Patel College of Engineering & Technology Vallabh Vidyanagar express their sincere gratitude to the Curator and other staff members of the museum for giving an opportunity for this visit. They all appreciated the effort of Mr. Amol Mohite, the Curator, to make the visit very informative and interesting.
