Women's Development and Awarness Programme

        Women?s development & awareness program was organized on 3rd February, 2015 by ?Women?s Development committee? of G H Patel College of Engineering & Technology, Vallabh Vidyanagar. The programme has been sponsored by Gujarat Council on Science & Technology (GUJCOST). As many as 375 participants including girl students, female faculty /staff members of our college and nearby colleges and guests attended the programme. The program mainly focused on very significant issues related to women like women safety, women entrepreneurship and women health. Esteemed dignitaries like Sri Nayan Trivedi, the CEO of Detective Institute (Ahmadabad) and Prof Usha Nilkanthan, the Chairperson of Women Development Cell, Gujarat Technological University were invited as the Chief Guest & the Guest of Honor respectively. The inaugural address was delivered by the college Principal Dr. Himanshu Soni followed by the presentation of the report of GCET Women?s Development Committee activites by Dr. Khadeeja Priyan, the coordinator of Women?s Development Committee, GCET. Sri Nayan Trivedi mentioned about crime on women in the inaugural address. Prof.Usha Nilkanthan took the dais and made us feel privileged about being a woman. Not only she showed the potentials of a woman but she also guided girls for their safety and security. The inaugural ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Tejal Patel, co-convener of the programme. After the inaugural session, Sri Nayan Trivedi, by citing real life examples and incidents made everyone aware of crime committed to women and most importantly how a woman is supposed to handle it when the circumstances are critical. He also showed the audience special gadgets which are used for the harassment of womankind. The session ended with the apt guidelines about overcoming these situations. After lunch, the symposium was carried on by three great speakers who themselves have contributed a lot to the society for the welfare of the women. Ms Ruzan Khambatta, a social entrepreneur and the founder of 1091 helpline number oriented girls about 1091 and how it can rescue them in some unwanted circumstances. She also shared her knowledge about mental drill and zero tolerance. The Dos and don?ts for a woman in critical situation and some self-defense techniques were also illustrated by her. She beautifully conveyed a message to the girls ?I am someone who cannot be knocked out?. After that, the session on woman entrepreneurship was conducted by Miss Kalpa rachh, a social entrepreneur from Vadodara. She motivated everyone to develop entrepreneur?s instinct. She shared secrets on how to be a successful entrepreneur. At the end of the programme a great response from the audience was observed on organizing more such seminars / symposiums. Thus, the programme was meaningful and had a grand success. It changed the mindsets of womankind. As many as 310 girl students and 65 faculty / staff members participated in the programme. All the participants were given certificate of participation. The organizing team is highly grateful to GUJCOST & Charutar Vidyamandal for giving an opportunity to organize the programme.
