Celebration of World Water day at GCET

       

World Water Day is an international observance day. It is meant to inspire people around the world to learn more about water-related issues, tell others about these issues and take action to make a difference, particularly in developing countries

World Water Day is an annual event celebrated on 22 March. The day focuses attention on the importance of universal access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) facilities in developing countries. The day also focuses on advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources Chemical Engineering Department of G H Patel College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), a Charutar Vidya Mandal Institute, Vallabh Vidyanagar, along with IIChE Students Chapter, celebrated World Water Day as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and sustainable management of freshwater resources in line with the theme of this year- 'Wastewater'.

The Chief Guest of the Seminar, Mr. Babubhai Patel, Chairman, Nandesari Industries Association, Dr. Himanshu Soni, Principal, GCET, Dr. Kaushik Nath, HOD, Chemical Engg. Dept., GCET, Prof. Dharmesh Kapatel, Faculty Co-ordinator, Mr. Aakash Patel, Student coordinator were present on the dais. Mr. Babubhai Patel, Chairman, NIA has multi-disciplinary design and engineering company for the effluent removal and shared their experience of last some many decades associated with the problems of water scarcity and crisis.

The speaker for the day was Dr. Nirmal Kumar, Professor & Head, Environment Science Department, ISTAR, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Anand. He has also given more emphasis on the various water related problems and present scenario of the wastewater which is not being digested by the chemical allied industries and out without any tertiary treatment leading to the degradation of the environment.
