A Green Building is an environmentally sustainable building, Designed, Constructed and operated to minimize the total environment impactas a Civil engineer its our moral responsibility to sustain sense of balance between nature and man and so,Department of Civil Engineering, GCET took this Green initiative.An industrial visit to the Green Building was organized by Department of Civil Engineering,GCET on 8 July 2016. The location of the visit was at L&T Knowledge city, Vadodara. A total of 55 students from 5th semester Civil Engineering and 3 faculty members Dr. Khadeeja Priyan(Head of the Department), Prof. Snehal Popli and Prof. Poorav Shah were in the team.The main purpose of the visit was to know more about green building construction, their functioning and to learn the application of Green building concepts that we had learned in 3rd semester. Mr. ShivamShukla, Project Manager, L and T has explained about the green initiatives of L and T through a presentation.He gave a brief overview on The journey of Land T knowledge city for LEED Gold Certification. He gave us an insight of 5 parameters for green building certification, their water consumption,recycle rate of knowledge city, efficient light system, there landscape,the usage of Double glazed glass in campus, Functioning of chillers, Albedo paint on roof tops,LUX limit,use of R31A chemical and many more things.We also proceed towards the project that was under construction, where students and faculty interacted the Engineers, Project Managers and QC Head. They gave a good insight to our questioneries, and also enriched our knowledge with latest green building material they are using in Green building.
