Department of Computer Engineering organized an ISTE approved National level short term training program on Machine learning for Big Data Analytics during 21-26 October, 2016. STTP was organized with the aim to focus on cutting edge technology for big data analytics and to make the participants familiar about on-going research and development in the area of Big data.It mainly covered Machine learning algorithms and tools used in industry for data analytics.STTP was inaugurated by Dr. Vipul Desai, Management Advisor, Charutar Vidya Mandal, Dr. Himanshu Soni, Principal, GCET, Dr. Maulika S. Patel, Head, Computer Engineering Department, GCET, Prof. Hetal Gaudani,Prof. Brijesh Patel and Prof. Rajesh Ahir, co-ordinators. Experts from various reputed institutes like IIT Gandhinagar, Nirma university, Dharamshinh desai university, Ahmedabad university, Charusat university, ADIT, MBICT, GCET,SBS and industries like Collabera,system level solutionwere invited for expert talk in the area of Machine learning and Big data. During this program experts shared their knowledge on Dimensionality reduction (Dr. Ranik Gandhi), Probability and linear algebra(Prof. Rajesh sanghvi), Hadoop(Prof. Hetal Gaudani),Optimization Techniques (Dr. Nithin George), Data intensive computation: A map reduce programming (Dr. Vibha Patel), Support vector machine and kernel methods (Dr. Priyank Thakkar), Decision trees and Random forest (Dr. Amit Ganatra), Spark framework (Prof. Jayprakash Verma), Nebuale IoT in Smart cities (Mr. Apurv Brahmbhatt and Mr. Raj Ardeshna), Time series forecasting (Dr. Shefali Singhal), Reinforcement learning (Dr. Narendara Chauhan), Linear and logistic regression (Dr. Brijesh Bhatt) , Apache Hive (Mr. Raj Patel), Confirmatory and Exploratory factor analysis (Dr. Vipul Patel).Fortyone academicians and two industry persons had participatedin this program . Faculty members from various technical institutes of Gujarat like BBIT(13),BVM(3), ADIT(3), GCET(11), SVIT(3), MBICT(3), FETR(2), SIEand from industry,SLS(2) attended this STTP. The interaction and discussion during lectures and laboratorysessions showed the interest and enthusiasm of the participants.
