Gujarat Technological University has taken very nice initiative of organizing the project fair to showcase the efforts put by final year students, during their project work. We, at Department of Information Technology, G H Patel College of Engineering and Technology, Vallabh Vidyanagar have organized the project fair on 2nd May, 2014. 31 projects were demonstrated by final year students. They have displayed the poster of their project to make it easily understandable for junior students, visited the fair. An open invitation was sent to all the staff members and students of the institute. Experts from industry, Faculties from hosting and other nearby institutes, second year and third year students have visited the fair. This fair provides a great platform for final year students to share their learning, ideas and experiences with the visitors. A panel was formed comprising of the faculty member, who is also guiding the project, jointly with another faculty members appointed by the Head of the Department. This panel has evaluated the project. They have allocated the marks which will also be considered as one of the component for internal evaluation in project work. We have also invited the experts from industry and academia to judge the project. Following is the details; 1. Mr. Kaushal Parikh Founder, Object Interaction Software Solution Pvt. Ltd., Vadodara. 2. Prof. Nilesh Prajapati Associate Professor, IT Department, BVM Engineering College, Vallabh Vidyanagar. 3. Mr. Bhaumik Kothari Founder and CEO, AdeptStation Technologies, Vadodara. An interaction session was organized at the end project fair. Experts from industry have shared the experiences with faculty members and students. They discussed the important stages of project development. They have explained the importance of project management tools, version management, validations and data consistency. They also explained the current opportunities available in the domain of mobile application and Big Data. They have highlighted the common mistakes done by students at the time of selection of project definition and also during the development of project. This will definitely help the students, especially third year students, to carry out their project work more efficiently. By combining the judgement of experts, internal guide and faculty members, three projectes were chosen as best project.
