Space Technology for Disaster Management

        On Thursday, 13thAugust 2015, GCET ISTE Student Chapter Organized a Lecture on "Space Technology for Disaster Management" for the students of mechanical, chemical and mechatronics department. In the current scenario, disaster management is very crucial. And being an engineer one should have adequate knowledge of the same. Space technology plays a crucial role in the present disaster management techniques. It helps in monitoring various natural phenomenon and in building efficient and reliable early warning systems. It helps in data collection, monitoring, and mapping. The session was conducted by Dr P M Udani (Director, Institute of Science & Technology for Advanced Studies & Research (ISTAR) V.V. Nagar.The session was about introduction to various devices and systems, related to space technology, that are used in disaster management. Students got a glance at all the programs related to disaster management system that are going on at ISRO. Dr P M Udani sir had been a part of some of those projects. He shared some of his experiences from his time at ISRO. It was a great learning experience.
