CHARUTAR VIDYAMANDAL UNIVERSITY, GCET, Chemical Engineering Department, Vallabh Vidyanagar has organised one day industrial visit to Shimmer Chemicals Pvt. Ltd., Mujpur on Padra-Borsad Road of district vadodara on 24th February 2020. Around 40 students of second year Chemical Engineering along with two faculty member, Dr. Haresh K Dave and Prof. Vinay B Patel and lab assistant Mr. Deepak Macwan have attended the visit. Mr. R C Patel, Director and his team has initially brief about the company and its product. The mother plant of M/s. Shimmer Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. Have had commenced manufacturing in the year1982 at Baroda. At present the company is manufacturing the significant organic chemicals like benzyl chloride, benzaldehyde, benzylidene acetone, benzylacetone & benzotrichloride and HCL as bi-product. With normal operations the Raw Toluene consumption is approximately 150 Metric ton per month and having power connection of around 115 K.W. to suit the present requirements. The company has a team of persons from the various disciplines and most of them with long working experience. The students were divided into three groups which were headed by company operator and visited all plants. During the visit of plants they explained the working of all plant equipments to students. Most of the equipments in the company were made from glass material to avoid the corrosion. Students have also raised several questions during the visit. The management of company has provided lunch with nice hospitality to our students. This industrial visit seemed to be very much helpful for students as it helped them to update their theoretical knowledge with practical one. We are very much thankful to the company’s management, our own management (CVM) and the department for organising this wonderful industrial visit.
