GNFC Industrial Visit Report

        The Chemical Engineering Department, GCET had organised an industrial visit to Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilisers & Chemicals (GNFC) Bharuch on 18/09/2019 (Wednesday).46 students of final year chemical engineering along with Dr. R R Nagarajan, Prof. Dharmesh Ka-Patel and Mr. Dharmendra Patel had attend the visit. In-charge of the plant briefed about the various production processes carried out in the plant. Mr. K Peshwan, head of fire and safety department gave informative presentation on safety in the plant. GNFC manufactures products like Methanol, Acetic acid, Toluene Di-iso-cynate, Aniline, Nitric acid, Ammonia, Formic acid etc. The visit started with the DM water plant where different treatment processes were shown for the conversion of raw water into demineralized (DM) water. This DM water is supplied all over the plant. Mr. Hiren Parmar, Plant in-charge briefed about Hydrogen plant. The raw material for production of hydrogen was natural gas which is being supplied by the government of Gujarat. The plant was fully automated. After the lunch Mr. T M Kapadia gave the presentation on Pumps which includes the selection criteria, cavitation, affinity law etc. In the end the group visited the neem project which produces shampoo, face wash, soap, oil etc. The project was specially based on women empowerment.
