ABOUT ISTE

Premier National Society for Teachers and Students of the Technical Education  system (with 45000 members and more than a lakh student members).

The Indian Society for Technical Education is a national, professional, non-profit making Society registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. First started in 1941 as the Association of Principals of Technical Institutions (APTI), it was converted into "Indian Society for Technical Education" in 1968 with a view to enlarge its activities to advance the cause of technological education.

The major objective of the ISTE is to assist and contribute in the production and development of top quality professional engineers and technicians needed by the industries and other organizations

Being the only national organization of educators in the field of Engineering and Technology, ISTE effectively contributes in various missions of the Union Government. The Ministry of Human Resource Development, AICTE/DST/MIT/State Govts. are well associated with the ISTE for programs relating to technical education.

SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES OF ISTE

Curriculum development & updating;

AICTE-ISTE STTPs for engineering teachers and practicing engineers;

Preparation of teacher-manuals & other instructional resource materials;

Continuing education for working professionals in selected areas under NANCE of AICTE.

Special short term industrial exposure programs for teachers organized by industries in their premises;

Seminars/workshops/conferences on topics of relevance of technical education;

Computer education programs;

Project review & evaluation;

Preparation of directories on technical education facilities/expertise;

Publication of a bi-monthly ISTE Newsletter;

Publication of a quarterly Indian Journal of Technical Education;

Publication of ISTE Handbook

Publication of Learning Materials in the area of Electronics & Computers;

Publication of various monograms

Charutar Vidya Mandal, Vallabh Vidya Nagar, Gujarat Award for the Best Engineering Teacher for Gujarat State 

ISTE Best Section Award for the Best Overall Performance.

ISTE Best Chapter Award (one from each Section).

ISTE Best Students Chapter Award (one from each Section).

ISTE Best Student Award (one Student from each ISTE Students Chapter)

* The awards generally include : Cash Prize, Medallion and Citation.

Nominations for awards are invited during July/August of every year. However, details can be had from the office of ISTE at Delhi.
